Personal Values

So, what are Personal Values?

Values are an integral part of who we are.
They’re our subjective beliefs about how we should operate in the world and provide the bearings for a strong internal compass.

They’re the blueprints for our decision-making and inform us of what we like & dislike; what is & isn’t acceptable and what we judge as right & wrong.
Our values begin to develop out of our personal experiences and as we get older, are shaped by our culture’s shared understanding about important standards and principles of behaviour.

Personal values are at the core of our individual needs, desires, passions and standards for living. They act as the building blocks for our identities.

We often find ourselves chasing dreams that we never really had; we pursue goals that’ll make our parents proud, strive to rise to all the “adulting” bench-marks & adapt traits that are agreeable with society’s values.
When we act or accept behaviours that don’t agree or “align” with our values, this compromises our sense of Self-Worth.

With the external boom of “should’s & ought’s” consuming our attention and time, we neglect the things that are important to us.
These are the parts of ourselves that we lose touch with and when starved of attention, brings about feelings of fulfilment.

Coaching brings your Personal Values to the forefront & supports you in finding ways to build a Life that fulfils these individual needs.

Limiting Beliefs

These are the niggles that cause low self-confidence, dominate our life story and crop up in every direction.
They’re the anchors that we tirelessly carry around and that hold us back in life.
These are the reason you feel stuck.
They work deep in the Psyche and are the consequence of internalised experiences and events that have created fear and insecurity.

The biggest problem with limiting beliefs is that they’re well hidden and we tend to attract experiences that reinforce them. Kind of like the “Self-Fulfilling Prophecy”

We often blame others, our circumstances, luck or relationships for the events in our lives.
Whilst, yes, these things do contribute to the existence of Limiting Beliefs, it’s important for us to take responsibility for our choices, thoughts and actions.

Being accountable for your Self, is essential to developing Self-Efficacy

We must recognise that we have
Choice and Free-Will!

According to the Happiness Pie, only 10% of our Happiness is dependent on our circumstances and a whopping 40% of it all banks on the choices we make.

Negative Self Talk!

A Negative mind will never give you a Positive life!

So what is “Self-Talk”?

Self-Talk is that little internal voice that you use to evaluate and process Life.

Its the dialogue you have with yourself in the shower, whilst you’re driving & generally helps you to make pretty much, all of your decisions.

Considering that this “voice” will stay with you, your entire  life, you can appreciate why it’s important that we make sure that it’s good company to be with.

Negative Self-Talk has limiting beliefs, which affect the way that we assess and respond to Life.
Negative Self-Talk dictates to you what you “should” & “shouldn’t” wear; what you “will” & “won’t” achieve; and what you “can” & “can’t” do.

Negative Self-Talk wants you to stay in the comfort zone, because it doesn’t belief that you’re capable of better.

When negative Self-Talk goes on for long periods of time, we create ingrained patterns of behaviour which are difficult to break.

Coaching helps break these cycles by teaching you how to turn that inner-voice into your very own Inner-Coach!

Wellbeing & Coaching

Wellbeing is our individual, Subjective experience of life.
It’s defined as;

“a person’s cognitive, and evaluations of, his or her life”

Meaning, that our Wellbeing is directly related to the quality of our thoughts, actions & beliefs.
Therefore, Wellbeing is about how we function and  feel in the world and it directly affects our Quality &Experience of Life.

Physically, socially, emotionally, spiritually and psychologically, we are innately driven to keep “levelling-up” in life. When we loose the capacity to move forward, we feel stuck and unfulfilled.

Ultimately, it’s the inner-thoughts, beliefs and attitudes that we hold, that influence our actions and behaviours in the world.   There’re a multitude of reasons for why people stop growing, but it’s usually a feeling of being “stuck”and/or unfulfilled that brings people to Wellbeing Coaches.

Sticking with the plant analogy, people don’t grow well in stagnant conditions and it’s my job to help you assess your conditions for growth and help revitalise Life.

A Wellbeing Coach works a little like a Personal Trainer… but for the mind!

Clients seek out coaching with a goal in mind; relationship ideals, work/life balance, dissatisfaction with their current situation.
